It’s the last Monday in January, and so I am excited to bring you a video of my full spread in which I explore the prompt provided by the gorgeous Rachel over at A Year In The Life Of An Art Journal!

In this video, I explore ‘resolutions’ and my word of the year, “Open” with some collage, and an expressive portrait.

Musings

I have been immersed in course work this week, and surprised to find myself feeling balanced and happy with the ratio of work to play. I am usually an all or nothing kind of girl, but the adjustments I made in my schedule at the end of 2012 mean that I can work, and get it all done (sometimes early, even!) in time to go live on Mondays, AND I can do the classes I really want to do. (And by “do”, I mean ACTUALLY do ~ not just think about them or watch the videos, but DO them…)

The classes I am loving right now are:

The Red Madonna Mystery School (Year long, very intense, lots of remothering happening along with a huge dollop of Kabbalah and even more painting ~ I have a background done and about sixty pages of notes and it’s only month one of 12!)

Face To Face with Misty Mawn (Faces, faces and more faces ~ We’re working with dry media right now and I’m sketching my face off. I’m doing a lot of work with charcoal on sketch paper and I’m loving how forgiving it is!)

VisionQuest 2013 in which I am coming to know aspects of self who have been shoved aside for far too long. I have this self who is afraid to begin, for whom the world is way too much, and I’m working with her right now to give her some sense of safety and voice in what is a mad, mad world (if you ask her, that is!).

In conjunction with VQ2013, I’ll be starting Storythreads in February. More Cat Caracelo. More mythic journeying. More nummy goodness.

Without intending to take on a new art form (because that is the LAST thing I need right now) I am finding myself all fired up about SoulCollage, which is a tool that a lot of folks in VisionQuest are using, too, so we’ll see where that leads me.

Bloom True starts tomorrow and I am SOOOOO EXCITED about it. I can’t wait to fling paint bravely and fiercely. This video has me so excited I can barely stand it:

Someone asked “How do you do all that?”

I work at super sonic speed. 

I take everything at my own pace wherever possible, saving notes, videos, class calls, etc. for future reference.

I don’t have children or elderly parents to look after. 

I don’t do a whole lot of housework. 

I rarely leave the house. 

I don’t watch a lot of t.v. 

It’s my favourite thing to be doing. My very favourite. It is what feeds me, what nourishes me, what inspires me…

…and that makes it easy.

I Loved Some Blogs

Ali Edwards has a WHOLE CATEGORY dedicated to Project Life (the system, not the photo challenge) and I have been drooling over her style.

This one, for so many reasons, but today because of the quoted writing on a tree between winter and spring.

Tam shares a journal page healing technique that made me love her even more.
