What People Are Saying!

I was totally blown away by Boot Camp. I had no idea that I would be. My expectations were that I would gain some new skills, be inspired and make art every day. Boot camp was much more than that. I not only learned to bind books but I also discovered that I LOVE book binding. Who knew? Now, I have negotiated to pay for my yoga sessions by teaching my yoga teacher how to bind books. Yet, it is so much more than that. Effy teaches us how to connect with ourselves in a way that gets to the core of our being. My expectations have been blown out of the water and I am so grateful for this experience. ~Tammy Dial Gray

BOD Boot Camp exceeded my expectations! Not only did I learn about supplies, different mediums and making BOD spreads. I also learned how to bind my own canvas covered journal, so fun! But, worth the price of admission alone was lesson 4, where Effy delved into why we journal and convinced me that it was OK to ‘allow’ myself the time to art journal! She really gives of herself and has truly touched my heart and soul! ~ Debbie Eilbeck Sandoval

I thoroughly enjoyed Boot Camp. I learnt so much. Made my own Journal (which I’ve been trying to do without much success for a while) and I wish it was longer. LOL I could never get enough of Effy Wild! ~ Anna Martin

Boot Camp offered me a way to break free from the restrictions I placed on myself. It allowed me to art again. Boot Camp encouraged me to share again and be part of an artistic community. Effy gives so much of herself personally in her videos — it is so much more than an art lesson! Binding books, learning new mediums, laughing at Henry the fly, OMGDOOM — you couldn’t ask for a better experience than the one you will receive when embarking upon Effy’s Boot Camp experience. ~Sumaiyah Dymonz Yates

I first encountered Effy in the Red Key with Shiloh Sophia’s ‘Cosmic Cowgirls’ - Gone Wild Art Journaling section… and I was b l o w n away! This was pretty much my first lesson in art journaling, she started with the word ‘wonder’ and I fell head over heels in love with this woman who in one hour showed me how to find my happy place via PLAY on a page! as well as a number of other helpful hints and tips… and I could even combine all this with my love of ‘self help, psychology type stuff as well ~ it all can have it’s place on my journal page…. which can then be covered in layers of colour and texture and mystery.  So… when I saw an opportunity to join Book of Days Boot Camp and find out MORE about this journal magic… and omg…. HEAR more from this DELIGHTFUL woman…. I was thrilled!!! I’ve since been doing several pages… I’ve hand bound my very own book… and each video still makes me smile a whole lot and I’m loving the experience very much.  I’ll be forever grateful to the gorgeous Effy Wild. ~Denise Daffara

Boot Camp has been a wonderful experience.  I thought that I would learn more techniques, but it has been so much more than that.  I learned how to bind books and many versions of BOD to pick and choose from.  Effy taught us to put all of our samples into one place so that we have an amazing reference.  More than all this though she taught us that is okay to work on our art and journal in this way.   She gave us the ability to tell ourselves and others that it is okay for us to be happy and when we are happy our lives and the lives of others around us will be better.   ~Janelle Marks

Book of Days Boot Camp… so here’s the thing… Where ever you are in your art practice– whether you write, paste things in a Smash book, keep an art journal, sew, quilt, collage, make faeries out of toenail clippings and bellybutton lint– Boot Camp is the place to get your head around your priorities so you can get your hands around your art. It is a somewhat touchy-feely approach to getting your butt up ten minutes earlier, or turning off the television and hauling your (enter applicable excuse-adjective here) carcass to the table and making your mark.Boot Camp is full of videos and pdfs that encrouage and inspire you to try something different, practice something you are struggling with and to talk to the inner you that asks that you make art. For those of you that know me through The Planet You, you known that I’m a huge proponent of talking to your inner voice so you may be wondering why I’m thinking Boot Camp is such a big deal… it’s a big deal because artist Effy Wild has stripped down the “look at me I’m so talented, I’m so right, and my way is THE way” and opened her studio doors to show you simply “her way” and the trial and errors along the way that still result in a beautiful piece of wok at the end. will you emerge from Boot Camp as talented as the other artists you admire? not necessarily. But you wll emerge from Boot Camp with a clear direction on making art a daily practice that fulfills instead of frustrates you. Go. Now. Give yourself permission to be the you your heart asks. ~ Kaere Schmidt

RUN, Do you hear me RUN, don’t walk, to participate in BOD Boot Camp! loved every single second of it. Truly, it maybe the most valuable online course I’ve ever taken. My favorite section was Chapter 4 where you delve into why do you want to art/art journal. If you don’t know why you want to participate in something even if you sign up and pay for it, you probably won’t participate. This course ought to be required (LOL) for all art journalers and just my 2 cents worth but chapter 4 would be good as chapter 1 :) love it truly! ~ Shelly Mendenhall
