It’s the first Friday in January, and here we are with a BRAND NEW YEAR OF JOURNAL52!
There have been a few changes I’d like you to make note of before we proceed!
First of all, the lovely Sarah Trumpp will still be with us in the Facebook Group, moderating, looking at your work, and generally being our own lovely personal muppet. However, this year, she will be stepping back from creating work for this project so she can focus her attention on her Patreon account! Let’s all take a moment to thank her for her incredibly hard work last year, and when you have a moment, please check out her Patreon, which you can find here.
One Prompt A Week
Last year, we had two prompts a week, which was rather a lot for Sarah and meI to come up with and keep up with. This year, we will have *one* prompt a week in the form of a printable ATC sized art card.
The art card will include a key word that you can use as a jumping off point for your art journaling process that week. I will also be including a definition, synonyms, creative suggestions, and suggestions for using the card as part of an ever growing oracle/meditation deck. By the end of the year, if you’ve diligently printed out your weekly art card, you will have a deck of 52 cards to use as art journal nudges or as ways in to contemplation or meditation. Printing and using the cards is optional, however, and you are welcome to simply read the week’s post, let it inspire you, and create your journal spread for the week based on that week’s key word.
Last year, I set up an album for each week. This year, I will simply post a link to the week’s prompt in the Facebook Group. All prompts will be sent out via our RSS feed, so if you’d like to get the prompts in your inbox, you can sign up in the right hand side bar where it says “GET UPDATES IN YOUR INBOX”.
This year, I’m going to ask you to *please* limit your posts in our Facebook Group to spreads created in direct response to our prompts. Off topic posts will be removed. Thank you!
ONWARD TO WEEK #1
Feel free to save this image, and print it for your own personal use as an art journal prompt card OR as an oracle/meditation card.
A doorway, gate, or other entrance, especially a large and elaborate one.
Create a painting that includes a portal. As yourself where it leads. Express what it is you wish to leave behind and what it is you wish to meet as you move through one year and into the next.
Explore the idea of doors or portals and ask yourself what they mean to you. What are you leaving behind? What are you moving toward? What is your relationship with uncertainty? What holds you back? What nudges you forward?
Have a Great Week!
As always, do whatever you feel inspired to do! Use what you have! Create in anyway you are inspired to create!
