FIRST, A NOTE ON 2018
The last two years with Journal52 have been stellar, but they have also been a bit out of my personal comfort zone. It can be a truly daunting task to run a group of over 11 000, especially when there are significant expenses incurred, and not a lot of assistance with that. Next year, I want things to be pared down. More intimate. I want us to feel safe engaging the prompts in an environment that is less ‘drop in’ and more ‘community’. Hence, the following changes:
Journal52 will continue in 2018, but I will be offering it a little bit differently. I am planning two different delivery methods – one will be monthly subscription based, and the other will be an annual membership, but I haven’t quite banged out the details yet. I can’t continue doing it for free, though, so there will be a nominal fee that is as yet ‘to be determined’. (I have to math before I can set a fair price!).
The current group will be archived at the end of 2017, and a new group(s) will arise for those who decide to continue on with me.
Please sign up here to get announcements on these changes. This will be the primary way to get information on how we are continuing this program next year. This list will *only be used for the new Journal52 announcements* and once that information has been sent out, it will be deleted. You will be invited to join my general list before that happens, but you will not be ‘auto-added’. You will get to choose! <3

Please don’t lift the cards or written prompts from my website to share in your own spaces. Direct folks to the original post at journal52.com so they can find it themselves.
Feel free to copy/paste this information for your own records:

Synonyms
Safekeeping, protection, succour, concern, consideration, thought, regard for the self.
Prompt
Create a spread that celebrates your self-care practices or explores the lack thereof. List your current self-care practices in a journal spread. Paint yourself as a young self, needing your care and protection.
Oracle
What are your self-care needs at this time? What does your body want from you? Your heart? Your mind? How can self-care assist you in doing your work in the world? How can you be gentler with yourself?
As always, do whatever you feel inspired to do! Use what you have! Create in anyway you are inspired to create! Enjoy! And have a great week!
I belong to quite few art journal sites….there has never been a fee since most of them have ads on page prompts which pay for their expenses…..it is the way a site works. Not everyone wants to watch a video or enroll in an instruction…I myself sell my art on canvas.. Etsy, Society Six(they market for you and even send it off) and Spotify’s new art seller…these are sites that you could make some serious $ from. You are sooo talented…..You might want to think bigger….I am often inspired by others on this site and I know many who are inspired by me. That seems to be the case on other sites that I am ones well. Also if you are willing to sponsor something like Gelli Board Art…they will pay you to do the demo….I don’t mean to undermine you in anyway but thought I would give you my imput because i am not sure that the majority of people on this site would pay to post. i belong to a few non-profits who raise $ for public school teachers who need art supplies because the School Boards here and uncaring. You could become a non profit and pay yourself a salary managing donations for art including in instruction for those who want that.
Effy, the above suggestion that you can become a none profit is ridiculous and problematic. My working life was in the non profit world and it is well regulated and the consequences of not abiding by the rules and regulations of the government can be traumatic. You are not trying to raise money for a “good cause” you are trying to earn a living as an artist. One of the issues with non profit is IRS status and messing with them is like being marked for life. Charge people. You are a professional woman offering a service to people. An author doesn’t expect their books to be given away, we have to buy them this is how the author survives. yes you will loose all the folks who troll through the art world for free.
So congratulations you are about to publicly declare you are a worthy, working, woman artist and not playing mother to wouldbes and wannabes who don’t want to pay to learnt to “be”.
Good luck
